Character: Emil Fredrik Västerström
Original Canon: Stand Still. Stay Silent
AU Background: Emil was born and raised in Östersund, Sweden. His family was very wealthy, and Emil was somewhat spoiled by his parents out of guilt over being away at work most of the time. As a result, he was raised mostly by a nanny and taught by private tutors who let him be a little too choosy with the courses he wanted to take. This upbringing left him a little socially isolated and without a good set of manners - spoiled, demanding, and vain, Emil spent most of his life without any real friends.

When Emil was 15, however, his family lost their fortune, and he was forced to start attending public school in Östersund, where he barely managed to pick his grades up enough to qualify for high school. After bullying in his last year of comprehensive school in Östersund due to his weight, he chose to attend high school in Mora, where his aunt and uncle and their three children lived, to get a fresh start. While he was at school in Mora, he lived with his aunt and uncle, frequently babysat his (terrible and awfully misbehaved) cousins, and tried at school. Really, he tried - but after years of being pampered and told that he was intelligent, gifted, and capable of doing whatever he wanted, he still struggled with actual schoolwork and it took a serious hit to his self-esteem, leaving him still vain and spoiled but also self-conscious and socially anxious. Still struggling to make friends, he managed to get through school with decent enough grades to pass and be able to look into secondary school.

After graduating just after his 19th birthday, he was pretty aimless career-wise, but ended up going in for a blaster's certificate and working at demolition for half a year while still living with his aunt and uncle and saving all of his money. While he enjoyed doing demolition work (and went from overweight to pretty well-muscled), he was still feeling a bit aimless and wanted something a little more profitable as a long-term career, and started researching well-known universities in other countries, wanting an even bigger change than the one he'd sought out in Mora. After that research, his savings combined with a bit of string-pulling on his behalf with a few of the connections his parents still had, managed to get him enrolled in Alternate University, which was one of his top choices for schools.

Emil is majoring in Veterinary Medicine and minoring in Education (with a view to Early Childhood Education if being a vet isn't working out). He spent the first half of the year living in the school dorms, but got caught hiding his pet cat, Kissekatt (or Kiss for short) in the no-pets-allowed dorms. Subsequently, he was asked to find somewhere else to live after he refused to give up Kiss to a shelter. Starting this semester, he'll be living off-campus with a roommate as live-in property caretakers in a home where animals are welcome.

Besides school, Emil will be doing work as a nanny and/or babysitter in the evenings, working as a barista part-time, and will be advertising around offering hair cuts and colour in people's homes. Gotta hustle to make that tuition money.

Emil has no superhuman powers.
